Updating Blog after several requests

Well, it has been awhile since I have updated this blog. The first month of summer has gone by way too fast. We are finally going to take a vacation this year (After 4 years of having the business). We have decided to go to Disney World in Orlando. I say we have decided, but who knows, we could change our minds again! Before we go, I need to get my car checked out again, fix things the kids have broken off inside the car, get my hair done (since it has been a year since the last time I dyed it), organize my office, and whatever else comes up! I am going to be too tired to go on vacation!

Marshall's home

Marshall got home from his mission last Friday. I was not able to go to Dallas to see him, but he had already made plans to come to Houston to see us anyway. Marshall, Brad, and mom came. It is really good to see them. I don't think I was a very good hostess. I don't think I even feed them once while they were here. That is sad. I did not even cook once. Anyway, they just let to go back to Dallas. Glad they came.

Next week is going to be a really busy week. We have 3 Thanksgiving Feasts to go to. I need to volunteer at all 3, but I am not sure I really want to. How sad is that? Our last soccer game is this Saturday. I am soooo excited. I love watching them play, but it has just been consuming our lives. 5 days a week of soccer. It has been crazy!!

I have lost 20 pounds in the past 2 months. I have been walking every week day and eating right. I hope to loose another 15 or 20 by Christmas, but that might be pushing it. We will see.

Joey loves school!

Joey did cry a little that first day when I left him, but from then on he just says bye and goes to his play dough table to play. He love it! I am shocked! The little boy who still cries after a year of going to nursery at church, does not even need to hold my hand when I drop him off at school. He talks about it all the time. He cried the other day because he did not have school. He only goes Mon, Wed, Fri half days. Tuesday was the crying (real tears) day. I guess my kids are growin' up. Yea!!

It is raining here today, so I am hope there is not soccer practice today. Course with my luck, it will dry up before practice. I will try to post soon.

Getting rid of the kids

Joey starts preschool Wednesday if everything goes as planned. Our conversation went like this yesterday:

Me: Joey are you ready to go to school?

Joey: Yes, but can I cry?

Me: Yes you can cry.

Joey: Ok I want go, but I going to cry. But only a little bit. Brandon cried alot, but I only going to cry a little bit.

He is referring to Brandon's first day of school where he did not want to stay and ran down the hall after Joey and I twice as I tried to leave him.

He is too funny. He tells me every Sunday he is wants to go to nursery, but he is going to cry. Every Sunday he cries - I guess to tell me that he is going to miss me - and then he has a great time in his class. It is going to be interesting to see what happens that first day.

Aftermath of Hurricane Ike

video

After Ike

We made it through the storm with very little damages to our 2 houses in this area. We had 6 shingles fly off the roof of our rental house. Water came in our front door and back door. Thank goodness for stained concrete!! Things here on the west side (Katy) are starting to get back to normal. Most of us have electricity here, but 1.21 million people in Houston still do not have electricity. It could take until Oct 5th to restore electricity to everyone. It is crazy. The kids had school on Tuesday, but then they decided to cancel it until Monday. No one has school until at least Monday in the whole Houston area! There were 2 to 3 hours worth of lines to get gas a couple days ago. I think it is getting better now. In Katy, we have not had as much of a problem getting gas because most of the city has electricity. There are people still without water. We were lucky and got our electricity back on Sunday night. Half our neighborhood was in the dark until Monday afternoon. I am going to post some pictures of the damage. It was a little scary. It is kind of like a tornado, but it lasts hours and hours. It started raining on Saturday early morning 1am. It finally calmed down about 8 or 9am. We were not upstairs, but our neighbors said that the upstairs was swaying back and forth. They could feel it. We protected our windows downstairs, but just taped the ones upstairs. It was soooo loud upstairs. I kept listening for a tornado. It was weird because you hear this really howling wind and then it get worse and then goes back to the howling. It almost feels like you need to run to the bathroom and hide in the tub, then it doesn't sounds so bad. Quite an experience.
